Postdoctoral project Peroxisome-mediated mechanisms of plant innate immunity
Plants have a well-developed innate immune system, which means that in most cases, plants are able to fight off pathogen attacks. Still, every year there are huge crop losses caused by plant disease, making research into how the plant immune system functions important. Quite recently, peroxisomes have been found to play a role in plant immunity. Many potential defence proteins are predicted to be localized to this organelle. We are looking at diverse defence proteins that localize to peroxisome and try to determine their function related to disease resistance.
