26Nov07 We have published a capillary pressure correlation for mixed-wet reservoir. Now we would like to extend the correlation to model fluid flow processes where the wettability may change with time. We have guessed how the correlation should look like, but it is not validated. This should be done, preferably, both by experiments and by theoretical considerations and/or simulations. The suggested master thesis problem is to validate the correlation by simulation using available pore network models. Also, Cassie's law should be included in the considerations. This law states that the apparent contact angle of a droplet on a heterogeneous surface with spatially inhomogeneous local contact angles is given by the areal average of the local contact angles. This apparent contact angle may be included directly or indirectly in the suggested new correlation. The work will consist or running Matlab-programmed available pore network models to check out the correlation. Responsible: Svein M. Skjaeveland Co-advisors: Johan Olav Helland and Liping Yu.
