So we do not go into unnecessary discussion that would be waist of our time. Svein points will be taken for further discussion on how to change the proposal. In other words instead of discussing a proposal that will be changed we should concentrate on how to move forward and discuss the detail content of the course. My apology to all the rest of you who are copied in my note and not involved in the detail discussion, I just felt that we would like you to know that this will be finalised very soon within the production group. Wiig" Subject Re: Proposal for Production courses Regarding the work load for the projects in "Advanced production technology": Is it really the intention that the projects themselves are to count 20 SP? The old "Prosessimulering, Prosjektoppgave" counted 2 vekttall, which is 20 % of the semester, whereas 20 SP is 67 %. I don't see how it is possible to enlarge such a project by a factor of over 3, without making some serious changes, which I believe there might not be enough time for. The old "kandidatoppgave" counted 4 vekttall, i.e. 40 % of the semester. This means that if the new projects are to be 20 SP, they will correspond to a kandidatoppgave times 1.5. I had the impression that around half of the course (10 SP) was supposed to constitute the project. Has this been changed now? The production group needs to make decisions fairly fast now, how you want to do this. 2. There need to be a single person responsible for each module and course. Of course, cooperation is needed, but one person should be responsible to call the meetings and try to find solutions, etc. 3. As I mentioned to you Aly, the new rules require some sort of external insight, see §12 in http://www5.his.no/studiehandbok/forskrifter/forskrift_eksamen.htm and I think, as I mentioned earlier, that there is a decision by the previous faculty board that there should be external sensor. Please check with Marit. Of course, this could be changed by the dean, but rules decided by the board need to be adhered to.
